4CEE Exchange supports the exchange of transactional documents via SFTP. Documents can be automatically submitted to the platform for further processing and made available to external systems from 4CEE Exchange. This allows 4CEE Exchange to integrate with existing file-based systems without requiring any changes to business processes.
Incoming
Documents can be securely submitted to 4CEE Exchange via SFTP for further processing. Organizations upload documents to an SFTP environment managed by 4CEE, after which the platform automatically retrieves, validates, and processes the files. Documents are then enriched, transformed into the desired format if necessary, and forwarded to the appropriate destination.
This form of integration works well with systems that export documents as files and do not support direct API integration. Processing is fully automated, eliminating the need for manual steps and enabling the efficient processing of large volumes of documents.
Supported features

-
Submission of XML documents with PDF attachments
-
Automated file processing

Outbound
4CEE Exchange can make documents available via SFTP to external applications, ERP systems, and middleware solutions. Processed documents are automatically placed in predefined locations, where they can be retrieved and processed by receiving systems.
This keeps integration simple on the receiving system’s side. Organizations can continue to use existing import processes while benefiting from 4CEE Exchange’s validation, conversion, and routing capabilities. If desired, document flows can be separated by department, organizational unit, or process.

-
Support for various folder structures
-
Separation of document flows by department
-
Integration with ERP systems and middleware
-

Security
SFTP connectivity uses the SFTP protocol, with access granted based on configured user credentials. The platform monitors access attempts and can take action if incorrect login credentials are entered repeatedly.
In addition, 4CEE Exchange provides full transparency into document flows via an audit trail and a secure user environment. Users can track transactions, view documents, and check the processing status. Access to this environment is protected by multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Examples
SFTP connectivity is widely used in environments where document exchange is already based on file transfer. Many ERP systems, financial applications, and middleware platforms include built-in capabilities to upload or download files via SFTP, which often allows for seamless integration into existing processes.
In addition, SFTP is a widely used integration method for organizations that process large volumes of documents and require a stable, automated exchange without direct reliance on API connections. This allows documents to be exchanged securely while maintaining existing workflows.
Examples
-
Exchange of invoices with ERP systems
-
Integration with middleware and ESB platforms
-
Bulk processing of document flows
-
Centralized processing of documents from multiple departments
